The Port of Newhaven, sited at the mouth of the River Ouse in East Sussex, is an important South Coast harbour providing cross channel connections to the continent for both private passengers and commercial vehicles. Newhaven Port & Properties Limited are the Statutory Harbour Authority, and as such are responsible for the ongoing management and safety of the Port of Newhaven.

Newhaven Port to the rescue of 280m long Pipeline 08/05/2013 GPS Marine Contractors Ltd were in the process of towing a raft of 9 pipes ranging in length from 800m to 240m with the Ocean going Tug Hibernia from Norway to Ghana, when the shortest length of pipe (280m and 2m diameter) took a noticeable deflection indicating that there was water ingress.
